On Saturday, March 1, a small but enthusiastic group of our garden club members traveled down to Marathon to visit their garden club’s home tour. The weather was perfect, sunny and cool, and the homes we visited were lovely with beautiful ocean views. The Marathon Garden Club ladies impressed us with their flower arranging skills and attention to detail throughout the tour. We had a fine lunch at the Key Colony Inn, then visited the homes. The Marathon Garden Club members were gracious hosts and made sure that we felt welcome. Our van driver, Tom Zannis, did an outstanding job and patiently listened to the chatter of a van full of ladies without complaint. Gloria Zannis provided competent navigational skills throughout the tour. And Judy Mangasarian graciously agreed to be our photographer for the day.
Many thanks to Tom for taking us safely to our destination and home, to Cindy Wooten, the home tour chairman, for her excellent organizational skills and for so graciously assisting me in the planning of this field trip. Also, thanks to our ladies who were such good company on our trip.
